Second Paper Intro.

The folowing is my intro for my second paper:
Art is something that moves someone. Art can come in many different sizes, shapes, and formats. Places like Second Life that allow so much personalization have brought art to the digital age. Art is no longer confined to physical realms of paint on canvas or chisel and marble. Art can be found anywhere and everywhere and Second Life is no exception; digital art can still move someone just as much as the "David" in Florence or the ceiling of Sistine Chapel can.

Machinima intro

This is the intro for my first paper:
Modem, processor, action! People everywhere enjoy watching movies and those movies differ in as many ways as the people watching them. There used to be one way to make a movie and that was with film. Then in 1999 the movie Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was the first movie to be filmed with the then new Pluto digital storage system in the D-5 compression format. Since then the digital era of movies has been booming. We are now moving to the next new age of film making. Lately people have started making movies within virtual worlds. This new way of making films is called machinima. Machinima is a new genre of movies but the procedure of filming, casting and witting is all the same.

Let Me Introduce my Second Self

As we all know when we all first started our second lives together all the guys looked the same and all the girls looked the same. Ever since my second life has began I have been changing every thing from my hair to the length of my sleeves. In game my avatar is tall and rather big like I am. He doesn't look much like me but I think that it looks pretty close. There has not been one time where I have not changed something about my avatar. Every time I log into second life I find something new and I think that that is one of the main reasons that I have so many clothes and change my outfit all the time. I have every thing from a pair of shorts to wear at the beach to a tuxedo to wear if I ever need one. In SL I have made a some money but with the amount of free things that you can buy I never have found the need to buy clothes.

My Seconds in Second Life

Today I decided to explore Second Life with my friend Brandon. When we first got into the game he teleported me to Info Island and when we were both there we started talking to a person who works the sim. They then helped us find the calendar of events and there were a few things that looked interesting. There was a Jazz concert and a technology fair that both looked interesting to me. While at Info Island Brandon and I then visited a place that was all about politics. There were many items that a person could click on and get information. After we took our picture with the president we then went to a section of the library that was all about law. Brandon and I are both Criminal Justice majors so law is very important to both of us. It was a little more important to me because I plan on going into politics so there is a good chance that I will be going to law school. After visiting the law section we decided to leave the building and see the different cultural areas on Info Island. There were places that one could go and meditate, or do the opposite and just bang on the drums while other people do a rain dance. Brandon and I then decided to go our separate ways. I then went to a place called Thursday's Fictions. This place makes you think. When I first arrived I found myself in a forest will all these dark and gloomy signs telling me of death. I then decided that I would go along with the sim and I decided to click the sign that said, don't be afraid but you will die and go to purgatory. I was ecstatic, not! Once I had started the sim things got stranger and stranger. I ended up going through many different rooms and all of them had asked me questions that were fairly simple but were also very deep. I felt like I should think about it so I decided to meditate on it for a little while. I then decided that it was time for a little cheering up. From there I went to Marin. This place was nothing like the last one. It was bright and cheery and you could see the sky. At this Island there were some works of art done by Adam Ramona. One corner of the island had a little orb that told me that if I didn't leave within a certain amount of time that I would be kicked off. I thought it was just a way of scarring people but sure enough if kicked me off that corner of the Island. I had a long day in Second Lie so I decided to end the day by just relaxing on the top of a mountain listening to birds and watching the sky.
